Meet Julie

Riding on a Cloud

If you’re interested in what’s new and cool in the world of technology and appliances, have a chat with Julie and her boyfriend Aria. While Julie is a silent trend setter, Aria is a variable wealth spring of tech information. It was this curiosity concerning that which is new, along with a move from Los Angeles to hilly, car-unfriendly San Francisco, which brought them to The New Wheel for the first time.

Julie is continuously looking to transform and reimagine her environment. As an avid knitter, she understands the value of craft and tradition, while at the same time working to make such practices current.

“An ebike was life-changing. I tend to be more of a home-body, but this lets me explore the city in a way I never would have without it."

In 2011, at the beginning of the e-cig boom, she and Aria started an e-liquid business, producing small batch flavors. She manages to elegantly combine her love for home, her entrepreneurial spirit, and her creativity into a perfectly idiosyncratic life.

Hardly known of two years ago, and certainly not trendy, Julie discovered the Kalkhoff Compact ebike after a test ride at The New Wheel. At the time, she was looking for a solution to overcome the frustrating transportation options available in San Francisco.

Julie and Karen talking shop during The New Wheel's video shoot.

“[Getting} an ebike was life-changing. I tend to be more of a home-body, but this lets me explore the city in a way I never would have without it… Now I leave a little bit earlier. I realized [that] I like to take the long way because I like to take the scenic route. The hills aren’t a problem. I can ride down Presidio drive, that long winding hill with Eucalyptus trees on either side. Its a ride I wouldn’t otherwise have done on a road bike...Sometimes I feel like I’m just riding this little cloud.”
