All HSD Models:
The Tern HSD nests between the folding Vektron and the 2-kid compact utility bike, the GSD. Why should you consider owning the new HSD as opposed to these other models?
Tern has mastered the art of building small wheel bikes, so the Vektron, GSD and the HSD all ride very well, with the same level of performance we expect in all of our bikes. It's truly something you have to feel to believe – a compact bike that rides like a full- size. But folding bikes like the Vektron require have additional complexity (and cost) to achieve the fold. Since the HSD is not a folding bike, the net advantage is that the HSD S8i can offer better cargo capacity, a Gates belt drive and Nexus hub, at a similar price to the Vektron, just by removing folding capability from the frame. And the HSD still does compact for storage or transport.
You also can't miss the design similarities between the HSD and Tern's hugely popular cargo bike, the GSD. The important difference is length and cargo capacity. The HSD will carry one passenger, while the GSD will carry two. The HSD is shorter, and thus easier to stow in your apartment, on transit, or in a car.
Because the HSD shares design conventions found on both the Vektron and the GSD, there is abundant crossover when it comes to useful Tern accessories, letting the new HSD hit the ground running when it comes to daily utility use.
