The first Gazelle we ever sold was the Arroyo, way back in 2016 - we even have a throwback video! We have always loved the Arroyo because it is supremely comfortable while being nimble and fun to ride.
But there were things we didn't love as much: the motor help was subtle and the internally geared hub was challenging to shift on steep climbs. And, the brakes on the original Arroyo were old-fashioned hydraulic rim brakes instead of modern disc. Our customers loved the comfort and style of the bike, but some had real challenges too.
The Arroyo C5 features upgrades to every component and consequently has an answer to all of the past design irritants. The new Bosch Performance Line drive offers a whopping 75 newton meters of torque - i.e. climb a wall performance. The Arroyo C5 is built with the new Shimano Nexus 5-speed internally geared hub. Don't let the lower number fool you; the Nexus 5-Speed is an ebike specific hub built with the gear range you need, increased durability, and simplicity in functionality. This means that you can shift seamlessly under power, without impacting your climbing ability. And to top it off, the brakes are upgraded, offering great performance on the descent and adjustability to fit your hands just right.
