We love crab. It's delicious, it's social, and it's quintessentially San Francisco. And the really cool thing is that as of late, you can go down to Fisherman's Wharf early Friday and Saturday mornings and buy directly off the boat.
The family woke up super early the other day before school, loaded up on our ebikes, stuck a bucket next to Ida - she didn't really love the idea of sitting next to crabs but we got over it - and took off as the sun rose. It was a glorious morning and we cruised through the quiet streets of Fisherman's Wharf to meet up with the FV Plumeria and buy some crab for a birthday dinner.
Taking the ebike to buy your crab is the way to go if you love convenience, no parking hassles and enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of the moring wharf. Taking a car there is just not the same.
Bring a bucket with a lid or a cooler. You can fit a large size bucket in your Ortlieb pannier or cargo-bike side bag, and of course, if you've got a bucket bike you're set. If you make it down there with your ebike, please send us your photos!
