Introducing Hase Bikes

True innovation that expands what is possible by bicycle

Bright Future 🌞 Reading Introducing Hase Bikes 4 minutes

Register for our webinar on Wednesday, March 12 at 12pm to learn all about Hase and their incredible bikes!

A primary goal of ours at The New Wheel is to not only provide the very best electric bikes to our customers, but to bring fresh ideas to our community. For this reason, we could not be more excited than to present our newest brand partner: Hase Bikes.

For over 25 years, Hase has been building bikes to help people of all abilities enjoy cycling. From their factory in Waltrop, Germany near the Dutch border, Hase creates truly innovative products unlike anything anything else available–from adult e-trikes to tandems to adaptive bikes for people with disabilities.

We first became aware of Hase Bikes through our longtime videographer, Mark Kohr, whose daughter has disabilities that make her unable to cycle on her own. Mark was a huge fan of his first generation Pino, which allowed him and his family to cycle, with their daughter as an active participant.

At last year's Eurobike trade show, we finally made the connection with the Hase team. What we found was a groundbreaking product line that offered riding experiences unlike anything else on the market.

The Line-Up

The Hase Pino Tandem

When we tried the latest generation Pino at Eurobike we were blown away. It is fun with a rider up front, highly adjustable to fit everyone from children to adults, and incredibly useful with impressive cargo bike accessories. The riding position makes conversations while riding easy and enjoyable. And the range of add-ons built for the bike by Hase expands the possibilities–from adaptive equipment for riding with children and adults with disabilities to touring equipment for bike camping with friends, this bike does more than you can imagine.

We were so excited by our first ride, in fact, that Karen ordered herself a Pino as our next family cargo bike. Now our daughter, Ida, helps power us up hills and and across town, conversations are fun and easy, and date night is even better!

The Hase Kettwiesel One E-Trike

At Eurobike, the Kettwiesel trike was perhaps most exciting bike to try. For so long we have been asked by customers for a trike and for so long we have given the same response: we couldn't stand behind anything on the market. Every trike had one or more serious deficiencies: they were heavy, had an unsupportable motor system, had poor handling on hills and at speed, or were so low to the ground that getting on and off was difficult.

But on our first test ride we realized the Kettwiesel One was something new and great. It is lightweight, maneuverable and fun thanks to a made-in-Germany aluminum frame, full suspension, and crucially, a differential (see the video below to understand why this is such an important feature). A Shimano mid-drive motor offers smooth, predictable power, and premium components make it trustworthy.

And then there were the hidden features: the ability to tandemize two bikes, allowing two trikes to ride as one together. A quick-adjustable seat height lets the rider choose between a sporty lower position (still at line-of-sight for other vehicles, unlike other trikes) or a higher position for effortless mounting and dismounting. A telescoping frame allows you to shrink your trike to fit on the back of a car. And it can even be stored upright. The list goes on and shows a company dedicated to getting all the details right, big and small.

Where to Test Ride & Buy

We are so excited to show you what is possible on these truly incredible vehicles and have them available for test riding in our shops. Once we find your perfect bike, we can order a stock model for quick delivery, or build your dream bike to be manufactured for you in Germany.

Trike Test Center

Our Marin shop will be our first test center for the Kettwiesel One trikes. You'll be able to test ride both the Kettwiesel One Up and Kettwiesel One Plus on beautiful bike lanes.

Pino Test Centers

We will have the Pino tandem ready to ride in our San Francisco and Marin shops. Bring a child, friend, or partner and you can experience what this one-of-a-kind e-bike is all about.
